The Five Tenets of Taekwondo can be summarized with the acronym, CHIPS.

Exercise humbleness in training, and acknowledging that the journey in Taekwondo is full of opportunities to learn more.

Approaching challenges with a positive spirit where fear and anxiety is replaced with eagerness to overcome.
Perseverance
Staying true to the goals that you set for yourself, and striving to work for them.
Self Control
Discipline is fundamental to being a successful Taekwondo martial artist. One must control arms, legs, mind, and attitude in order to hone strength to its maximum.
Your journey of becoming a practitioner of Taekwondo can be aided with the following guideline known as the Four A’s.
Appearance
Present yourself in a manner that earns respect. Be proud of your art by ensuring that your uniform is neat and clean, and your belt is tight and even.
Attendance
Success in martial arts requires continual practice and exercise. Progress can
only be made through practice.
Attention to Details
Fine tune your movements in form and elegance; observe and adopt the nuances of your Poomse techniques; and demonstrate continual progress towards perfection.
Attitude
The difference between success and failure is the attitude you approach Taekwondo with. Attend each class with the desire to learn and expand your knowledge in the art of Taekwondo. Set yourself a goal to grow where each practice you become better than before. Inspire others with positivity and encouragement so they too can feel supported on their journey.
